Overview
The National dFSI flag helps identify national digital FSI activity. Digital FSIs and retailer coupons serve different purposes in the promotional landscape. National dFSI reporting helps distinguish offers that appear as broad national digital activity from offers that are specific to individual retailers.
You can use National dFSI reporting to:
Identify National dFSI activity in promoted product results
Include, exclude, or isolate National dFSIs in Promo Search
View National dFSI activity in Dynamic Summary
Use National dFSI criteria in Event Definitions
Limit results to unique National dFSIs per week
How the National dFSI flag is determined
Based on client feedback and market research, the following methodology was created to identify and flag which promotions are likely to be National dFSIs.
A promotion must be part of Web Promotions to be evaluated for National dFSI status.
Numerator reviews promotional activity across the following 18 parent retailers:
Albertsons | CVS | Dollar General |
Dollar Tree | Giant Eagle | H-E-B |
Hy-Vee | Kroger | Meijer |
Publix | Raley's | Southeaster Grocers |
SpartanNash | Target | Wakefern |
Walgreens | Walmart |
|
Promotions are considered the same when they share the following attributes:
Brand | Product Size | Core Offer | Week Starting |
The National dFSI flag is then assigned as follows:
National dFSI = Yes | National dFSI = No |
The same promotion appears at 11 or more of the 18 parent retailers. | The same promotion appears at 10 or fewer of the 18 parent retailers. |
When a promotion qualifies as a National dFSI, matching promotional records across all retailers are flagged as National dFSI = Yes.
How to apply the National dFSI filter
Use the National dFSI filter in Advanced Options to control which records appear in your results. Depending on your reporting needs, you can use the filter to:
Show only promotions flagged as National dFSI
Exclude promotions flagged as National dFSI
Include both National and non-National dFSI activity
Limit results to unique National dFSIs per week
Within the National dFSI filter section, select Limit results to unique National DFSIs per week to avoid counting repeated retailer-level records for the same National dFSI.
For this option, a National dFSI is defined as a unique combination of:
Brand
Product Size
Core Offer
Each National dFSI is counted once for every unique combination of:
Week Starting
Media Type
National dFSI flag
Use this option when you want to measure distinct National dFSI activity rather than the number of retailer-level records associated with each promotion.
FAQs
FAQs
What is a National dFSI?
A National dFSI is digital FSI activity that meets Numerator’s national-distribution threshold. The same promotion must appear at 11 or more of the 18 evaluated parent retailers.
What makes two promotions the same?
Promotions are treated as the same when they have matching Brand, Product Size, Core Offer, and Week Starting values.
Does a promotion need to appear at every retailer to qualify?
No. A promotion qualifies when it appears at 11 or more of the 18 evaluated parent retailers.
Are all retailer records flagged after a promotion qualifies?
Yes. Once a promotion qualifies as a National dFSI, matching promotional records across retailers are flagged as National dFSI = Yes.
Why should I limit results to unique National dFSIs per week?
This option prevents repeated retailer-level records from inflating your National dFSI counts. It is useful when you want to measure distinct national promotions rather than every retailer occurrence.
Can I use National dFSI in an Event Definition?
Yes. National dFSI can be included as a criterion in Event Definitions to identify or segment qualifying promotional activity.
